Last Week in the Cemetery (Week of June 5)

Posted June 5, 2023 by M.S. Coyne

Last week in the cemetery was dry, dry, dry and the grass showed it.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be in the middle of a professional photo shoot? Thursday African Cemetery No. 2 was visited by the KY Dept. of Tourism and an advertising team to shoot still photographs for the updated KY Travel and Tourism Website (https://www.kentuckytourism.com/culture/history-heritage/unforgettable-kentucky).

From 8:00 to 12:00 the team of actors, producers, and photographers took a variety of photographs around the cemetery highlighting the important individuals and events reflected there: RCO Benjamin,

Oliver Lewis, Isaac Murphy, the newly installed USCT markers.

Even our Archivist, Ms. Yvonne Giles, got in on the act.

Look for the updated website in Spring 2024

Remember, if you or your group would like to contribute a few hours of service maintaining African Cemetery No. 2 in 2023, please contact Mark Coyne at mscoyn00@gmail.com to plan a visit.
