Tree Hunt and Identification

Join us at  historic African Cemetery No. 2 on 7th St. to  locate 58 different tree species or take a self-guided tree tour. Come for the trees and stay to read  the history of Lexington's  African American Community.

Let's Make Leaf Prints!

Sonja Brooks, Sisohpromatem Art Foundation, Inc. ( the name is metamorphosis spelled backwards) www.art4edu.org will lead a print making project with  leaves you collect from  eight trees identified on a walking tour brochure created for African Cemetery No. 2 by  the Urban Forest Initiative. Using a gelatin plate, you will  create your own folio of representative leaves . All supplies will be furnished.  Come with your Creativity!

Enter the cemetery from one of the two gates on 7th St. and drive to the center garden. Parking is along the driving alleys.

This event is kid-friendly and handicap accessible.
